ADA HOLDS KEYS TO FLORIDA

The Association for Disabled Americans' (ADA), purpose is to initiate access and compliance with the Federal "ADA", Florida Statutes 553 and 316, and the South Florida Building Code, to protect the interest of individuals with disabilities. This Association is open to all persons with a disability. Efforts are through education, and when necessary (usually), litigation to require compliance. Our efforts concentrate on shopping centers, medical facilities, municipalities, performing arts and movie theaters, and nursing homes.

To date, the ADA together with the FPA( Florida Paraplegic Association) and individuals, has been involved in over 105 civil suits. None have gone to trial! All have been settled, dismissed, or are in negotiations for settlement. We are addressing a list of complaints which currently exceeds 90 locations.

The law suits seek only compliance and not punitive damages, except for violations of stipulation agreements. Penalties are used to further our cause of bringing about equal access for everyone. Expenses are paid by the defendants. All of our legal representation is on a contingency basis by more than five different firms.
