ADA DEMONSTRATION HELD AT LOCAL RESTARAUNT/BAR
Calling ourselves "The Lunch Bunch", 30 people celebrated the 6th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, ADA, by having lunch outside Boone's Saloon, located in Springfield, IL. To attract media attention and raise public awareness, we set up tables on the sidewalk out front, and ate our lunch (purchased from an accessible restaraunt). Years of Boone's lies and broken promises brought on this demonstration that it is easier and more fun to welcome paying customers with disabilities than it is talking to the Justice Department. Our efforts were rewarded with lengthy coverage in the lead story on the local 6:00 news, and by August, access to Boone's. Another victory in the struggle for justice.
