ADAPT Action Blog

Two inches of snow is not much for Boulder but it really highlights the difference in the weather I expect in Atlanta. Hopefully ADAPT can really change the climate for people dying to get out of nursing homes.
At this moment, I am waiting for the plane to take-off, but this morning I woke before the alarm to find a fine power covering my front yard and street. The snow was going to make getting to the airport difficult.
If you follow this blog for the Atlanta ADAPT action I will try to pass along little tid-bits about the historic Olmstead decision. One reason ADAPT is in Atlanta is to reinforce this landmark civil rights decision by the US Supreme Court.
The first fact I will pass along about Olmstead is from my own memory of the case. Before Olmstead made it to the Supreme Court, Tommy Olmstead became the villain by trying to keep people with disabilities locked up. He was the head of the Georgia Department of Human Services and by accident his name on the ruling.
This is a small bit of trivia, but remember Tommy Olmstead ten-years ago lost his case to keep people with disabilities in institutions.
Flight 420 is scheduled to take-off in two minutes. Next blog will be from Atlanta.
