ADAPT Action Report October 11 to 14
Ten years ago, the US Supreme Court upheld the unique idea that institutionalization was a kind of discrimination against people with disabilities. The Olmstead decision in 1999 reinforced that people with disabilities would be an equal part of the American community and not be locked away in nursing homes and institutions.
ADAPT is in Atlanta, where Olmstead started, to continue the march for equality and to ensure people with disabilities will not be left out of Health Care Reform, housing and the American dream.
